Christmas:Springfield, TN

This past weekend the entire Startup family met at Pop and Granna's to have Christmas. There were 12 of us in all and one on the way. Blake's sister Emily is expecting her first child in January. It's a boy! Three little boys back to back.

We had a great time. Camp loved his gifts especially his work bench. I think he will be "handy" like his dad. He also loved the wrapping paper. We also visited a Reindeer farm. Camp got to see and touch his first reindeer.

My little nieces have grown up over night. They are both so sweet and funny. They got purses for Christmas and were stuck to them like glue. It just melts my heart that they love purses. Lord knows Aunt Trish has been addicted to purses for quite some time now. I must say Natalie stole my heart when she said, "Trixie looks like an angel in her Christmas dress."

From the Front Seat

I love to turn around in the front seat of the car to see this view. Just melts my heart...precious.

8 Months

OK, well you see how well the sign is working out these days. Here are the stats:

36 weeks (Not sure of his weight for he goes for his 9 month appointment in Jan.)
Diaper size 3 and we moved from Swaddlers to Cruisers.
9 to 12 month clothing.
He eats stage 1-3 foods.
He can pick-up foods and eat them. He's really good with puffs.
He eats 4 8oz bottles but now stops us when he doesn't want anymore.
Camp is crawling and pulling up.
He now has two teeth and his first tooth on the top has begun coming in.
He plays with toys and loves to pick them up and examine them.
He wants to eat everything he holds.
He loves the remote control and phones.
He says mama and dada more often now.
When he cries, he cries for mama.
He moved up in Daycare from the Lambs class to the Turtles class.
He moved up in the Church nursery to the creepers class.
He will lift his arms to be held.
He's a great sleeper and sleeps through the night even when he's sick and or teething.
He's gotten much better about napping at Daycare.
He's an awesome traveler.
He loves to take his socks off and chew/cuddle with them.
Still sucks his thumb.
We moved his swing and other newborn baby items out of his nursery.
Camp loves Trixie, but she's still not a fan.
It's just really amazing how much more Camp sees, understands, picks up and just talks and yells. He's vocal like his mama!
He's got quite a head full of hair. Blondish/brownish.
His eyes are blue/brown. Hazel or green? I was hoping they'd pick a color. They are pretty!
People always tell us that Camp is the happiest baby. In the nursery at church they fight over him. They call him that perfect Camp!
Camp is happy and easy going.
Camp loves to be cuddled in the morning time.
He waves but does it to himself.
He sleeps with your bottom up in the air.
He loves to cuddle with everything.

I'm really enjoying this stage. It has been a lot of fun to see him progress so quickly or what seems like overnight. I like watching him crawl (good-bye to sitting and watching TV) and listening to him just talk and talk.

Something that has really hit me hard is knowing that when Camp grows up, he will hurt my feelings. I know this is weird to go ahead and think about. Now that he lifts his arms to be held my heart melts. I can't imagine what it will be like when he tells me he loves me. My heart knows that also one day he will talk back to me or say something hurtful. I told my mom this week, I can't imagine how much that will hurt. I, of course, apologized for anything hurtful I ever said to my parents.

Lil Hunter

My boys are back safe and sound. No deer were harmed. Blake hunted and Camp got loved on by Granna all weekend. They had a great trip. While the boys were gone, mom had a great time too! HA! I slept late...meaning I got up at 8:00am. What happen to those years when sleeping late was like sleeping until 11am or noon? Anyways, I hosted a cookie exchange party at my house. I got some "girl" time and tons of cookies. I was on top of my laundry game! I've become a professional laundry manager these days and I only have one child. I can't imagine the laundry for two or three children. My house was spotless.

All in all it was a peaceful weekend. I watched girl movies, read my "girly" books and sipped on a lot of tea. I have to admit, I did walk into someone's nursery a whole lot. I would just open the door and look around. Sometimes when I was up and around the house I felt like I could hear Camp crying etc. I'm just so accustomed to those noises now.

I also addressed all our Christmas cards and mailed them out. We received our first Christmas card on Saturday! I love, love, love Christmas cards. I think they are the best! I can't wait to get home and see whose card we received in the mail. I put every card we receive on our refrigerator. By the end I have to get pretty inventive with our magnets. I love them!

Tis the Season

This morning was a first for me. I sent off my two most prized possessions…my boys. It’s that time again, no not Christmas, hunting season. No, Camp is not going hunting with Blake. But we did pack him all camouflage outfits. Granna is going to take care of Camp. I know he will be in great hands and loved on all weekend. But still, it was hard to hug and kiss them good-bye.

Camp's First Picture with Santa

Blake and I were in the mall about a week before Thanksgiving and noticed they already had Santa in place for pictures. We thought this will be a great time for Camp to get his picture taken with Santa. No lines! Although, I do find it sad that Santa was ready for pictures and Thanksgiving had not occurred yet.

Camp did great! He thought Santa's beard was wonderful. Although Camp was not in Christmas colors Santa was impressed with his Orange outfit! He told us to bring Camp back for the UT Santa night. Apparently, Santa has an orange Santa outfit. I doubt we will be visiting again this year. Santa is EXPENISVE!!!!
